Job summary

Substrate Bio Ltd. is seeking a Lab Operations Manager to run the lab in London. You will own daily operations, manage consumables, stock control, and purchasing, and collaborate with software teams on barcode-driven provenance and stock systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab management, safety, and inventory integrity. You will coordinate with scientists and engineers to ensure bill of materials, equipment calibration, and barcoding schemes are robust.

Qualifications

• Two or more years running a lab or comparable physical operation.
• Practical stock control: goods in, inventory records, reorder points, stock counts that reconcile.
• Buying from suppliers: raising orders, comparing quotes, managing lead times.
• Hands-on with a barcoded or scanned stock system, including what goes wrong when people skip the scan.
• Lab environment experience: cold storage, hazardous waste, containment, controlled materials.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day operations of the lab in London, ensuring consumables and stock are available.
• Manage goods in, cold chain, equipment servicing and calibration, suppliers and purchasing.
• Maintain waste streams and safety records and ensure compliance.
