Job summary

Fuse Energy in London is seeking a hands-on Lab Manager to run our hardware research lab, keeping benches tidy, instruments calibrated and labs fully operational so engineers can focus on engineering.

You will support the engineering team with assembly and rework, manage prototypes and inventory, uphold lab safety, and coordinate test setups, wiring and shipping of hardware to partners and test houses.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an electronics technician, 5+ years preferred.
• Excellent hand-soldering and SMD rework skills.
• Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Hands-on experience building wire harnesses and cable assemblies to a consistent standard.
• Maintains lab safety and ESD discipline at every bench.

Responsibilities

• Run the lab day to day: layout, organisation, labelling and housekeeping of benches, tools, components and prototypes.
• Perform SMD soldering, rework and repair on prototype boards.
• Build cable and wire harnesses for prototypes and test rigs with documented quality.
• Manage lab inventory and order replacements before they run out.
• Maintain lab equipment and calibration schedules with external partners.
• Uphold lab safety, PPE, and safe handling of lithium batteries.
