Job summary

Fuse Energy, LLC is seeking a hands-on Lab Manager in London to run a fast-moving hardware research lab. You will support engineers with prototype assembly, rework and testing while maintaining safety and calibration discipline.

This role requires 5+ years as an electronics technician, excellent soldering skills, and experience with cables, harnesses and lab equipment. Equity and competitive salary are offered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience (5+ years) as an electronics technician.
• Excellent hand-soldering and SMD rework skills, down to fine-pitch components.
• Able to read and work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and rework instructions.
• Hands-on experience building wire harnesses and cable assemblies (crimping, connectors, strain relief).
• Naturally tidy, organised and methodical – a well-run lab is essential.
• Working knowledge of ESD-safe practices and safe handling of electrical/electronic hardware.
• Comfortable using basic test equipment (multimeter, bench power supply, soldering/rework stations).
• IPC certification (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620 or IPC-7711/7721 rework) is a strong plus.
• Experience handling or shipping lithium batteries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run the lab day to day: layout, organisation, labelling and housekeeping of benches, tools, components and prototypes.
• Perform SMD soldering, rework and repair on prototype boards (fine-pitch components, hot-air and iron rework).
• Build cable and wire harnesses for prototypes and test rigs with documented quality.
• Manage lab inventory: components, consumables and tools, order replacements before stock runs out.
• Maintain lab equipment: care of soldering stations, power supplies and instruments, calibration scheduling.
• Uphold lab safety: ESD discipline, PPE, battery handling and up-to-date safety procedures.
• Support engineers with test setup builds, fixture assembly and prototype work.
• Manage goods in/out, including packaging and shipping of hardware and batteries.
