Job summary

Fuse Energy, a UK-based energy startup, seeks a versatile Head of Hardware with Electronics Design experience to lead the hardware engineering function from electronics and embedded to test and compliance. You will deliver robust, scalable renewable energy hardware and own the roadmap and architecture across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will oversee prototype to mass production, manage contract manufacturers and suppliers, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance (CE/UKCA, EMC).

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electronics design engineering with hardware experience.
• 3+ years leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience taking hardware from concept to volume production.
• Proficiency in schematics, PCB layout, board bring-up and debugging.
• Experience with embedded systems and IoT connectivity.
• Experience with power electronics or grid-connected hardware.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with software, product and supply chain.
• Clear communication and prioritization for speed and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own the hardware engineering roadmap and architecture.
• Take products from prototype to mass production with quality and cost controls.
• Lead electronics, embedded, test and compliance disciplines.
• Ensure hardware safety and regulatory compliance across markets.
• Manage contract manufacturers, suppliers, and test houses.
• Collaborate with product, software and operations leadership.
• Grow and mentor the hardware engineering team.
