Saragossa in London is hiring a Platform Engineer to accelerate other engineers by delivering robust developer environments and a safe path to production. You’ll work closely with traders, quants and developers to translate needs into practical platforms and tooling.
Expect hands-on Kubernetes in production, GitOps with Argo/Flux, and Python automation. The role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days in central London and a strong collaborative mindset.
Most engineers want to work at a trading firm for the pace, the people and the problems you don’t get anywhere else. The catch is that most trading firms expect you on‑site 4-5 days a week.
This global prop trading firm is going against the grain. It’s hybrid, 2-3 days in their City of London office, with breakfast and lunch fully catered.
They’re adding a Platform Engineer to a small team whose whole job is making other engineers faster. Trading and dev teams should be able to ship their own software without raising a request and waiting. You build the paved road that makes that possible: developer environments that just work, a route to production that’s safe by default, and the clusters everything runs on.
You’d spend real time with traders, quants and developers, working out what they actually need (which isn’t always what they first ask for) and turning it into something they can run themselves. When something breaks in production, you’re the one who gets it back on its feet. You’ll automate anything that has to be done twice, and you’ll have a say in where the platform goes next, including saying no when an idea would make things worse.
You'll need solid hands‑on Kubernetes in production. GitOps experience, whether that’s Argo, Flux or something similar. Python for automation. Someone who likes talking to users as much as writing YAML, and who has built a process that other teams went on to own.
You don’t need a finance background. Plenty of their best hires came from outside it.
