Job summary

BT Group’s Network Cloud team is hiring a Kubernetes Platform Engineer in Manchester, Ipswich or London. You design, build and operate Kubernetes-based platform capabilities within BT private cloud environments, focusing on security, scalability and reliability.

The role emphasizes automation, Terraform/Ansible IaC, lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver robust cloud-native services for BT network workloads.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience building, deploying and operating Kubernetes platforms in private cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating Kubernetes in production.
• Experience Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Ansible.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Solid networking fundamentals and CI/CD, GitOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and enhance Kubernetes platform capabilities in BT private cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain platform automation using IaC and software engineering best practices.
• Implement deployment, upgrade and lifecycle management for Kubernetes clusters and services.
• Integrate networking, monitoring, logging and security into the Kubernetes platform.
• Support platform reliability through proactive improvement and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to incident resolution and problem management for platform services.
• Evaluate emerging tech and contribute to PoC activities.
• Support transition of new platform capabilities into production and drive continuous service improvement.
