client/child:
Cillian is a 17-year-old who lives at home with his Mum, Dad, and 14-year-old brother. He is a cheeky, fun-loving, and sociable young man with a passion for music (any genre), disco parties in his therapy room, reading stories, watching funny movies, sensory activities, going for walks, hydrotherapy (hydro pool at the family home), and spending time with family and friends. Cillian has cerebral palsy, uses a wheelchair, has a visual impairment, epilepsy, global developmental delay, and receives nutrition, fluids, and medication via a PEG.
Cillian’s care team is seeking additional support to provide 1:1 and sometimes 2:1 support, including waking night support.
Cillian follows an established routine that includes therapy, school, and activities. As a SEN Support Worker, you will follow his care plan to assist with all aspects of his daily living activities, personal care, manual handling, medication, PEG feeding (prepared by Mum), therapy, and enabling him to access and participate in his environment and activities. Due to his visual impairment, clear communication is essential to prepare him for upcoming activities. Seizures are usually tonic; protocols are in place, and training will be provided. During waking night shifts, you will monitor Cillian via CCTV and assist with repositioning and seizure management as needed. The rota is provided one month in advance, and shifts can be adapted to suit your availability. We are committed to finding the right team fit for Cillian, prioritizing his needs.
Shifts include: after school (only if local), weekends, and waking nights. Shift times are flexible to accommodate your availability, with the goal of building a supportive team around Cillian.
No prior experience is necessary as comprehensive training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be proactive, positive, eager to learn, and passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential.
Cillian is a joy to work with, and you will be part of a dedicated, supportive, and friendly team. Many team members have worked with Cillian for over six years, reflecting the positive working environment and the rewarding nature of this role.
