Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a KS4 pupil in a specialist SEN setting in the B65 area. This long-term position requires resilience, calmness and exceptional behaviour management to help the pupil engage with learning.

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support, aid access to lessons, and collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement individual strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEN.
• Experience supporting KS4 pupils or teenagers.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Patience, resilience and genuine passion for supporting complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs.
• Support the pupil to access lessons and the wider school environment.
• Encourage engagement with learning, even when reluctant to participate.
• Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil and support emotional regulation.
