Job summary

Abbey Gardens School in Bury St Edmunds invites applications for a Maths & ICT Instructor. The role is 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with a salary of £39,000 per annum. It is a permanent role, term-time only, starting November 2026.

Qualifications

• Strong Maths and/or ICT subject knowledge.
• Experience of supporting learning through teaching, tutoring, mentoring or training.
• Ability to explain concepts in different ways and adapt to individual students.
• Patient, positive and resilient approach.
• Confidence to engage and motivate students who may have barriers to education.
• Interest in SEND or specialist education.
• Desire to help students develop academically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Maths and ICT lessons across KS3.
• Support students toward Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSEs.
• Adapt lessons to individual abilities and needs.
• Find creative ways to make Maths/ICT accessible and engaging.
• Build positive relationships to boost confidence and re-engagement.
• Monitor progress and recognise achievements.
