Job summary

Verwood CE First School is seeking a dedicated Class Teacher on a 0.4 FTE fixed-term contract from 1 January 2027 to 31 August 2027 to cover maternity leave. You will teach Year 4, Thursday and Friday each week, with responsibilities across KS2, leading a small team of teaching assistants, liaising with parents and external agencies, and contributing to high standards of pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

A confident classroom teacher with KS2 experience.
Committed to raising standards and achievement.
Enthusiastic, imaginative and reflective.
Skilled at building positive relationships with children, staff, parents and local school committee members.
Able to provide adaptive teaching to ensure excellent learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

Teach Year 4 on a 0.4 FTE contract (Thu and Fri).
Lead a small team of teaching assistants and liaise with external agencies.
Contribute to high standards of behaviour and pupil outcomes.
Promote a child-centred ethos and ongoing professional development.
Collaborate with parents and colleagues to support learning across the KS2 curriculum.
