Job description

We are seeking a caring and experienced Teaching Assistant to support children in Key Stage 2, with a particular focus on pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

At this school, they are proud of our inclusive ethos and commitment to helping every child thrive. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support the learning, social development and well-being of individual pupils and small groups. Beginning June 2025.

Duties as Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN, including those with EHCPs, ASD, ADHD, or speech and language needs.

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities.

  • Support class routines and behaviour expectations, promoting a calm and nurturing environment.

  • Help pupils access the curriculum through tailored support and appropriate resources.

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips and enrichment activities.

  • Support personal care or emotional regulation plans if required.

Ideal Teaching Assistant:

  • Have experience working with children in KS2, particularly those with SEN.

  • Demonstrate a calm, patient and empathetic approach.

  • Understand the importance of inclusion and individualised support.

  • Be a strong team player with good communication skills as a Teaching Assistant.

  • Ideally hold a relevant TA qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) – though not essential.

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
