Job Description:

We are seeking a caring and experienced Teaching Assistant to support children in Key Stage 2, with a particular focus on pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support the learning, social development, and well-being of individual pupils and small groups. The role begins in June 2025.

Duties as a Teaching Assistant include:

  • Providing targeted support to pupils with SEN, including those with EHCPs, ASD, ADHD, or speech and language needs.
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities.
  • Supporting class routines and behaviour expectations, promoting a calm and nurturing environment.
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum through tailored support and appropriate resources.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Fostering positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school, including trips and enrichment activities.
  • Supporting personal care or emotional regulation plans if required.

Ideal Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children in KS2, particularly those with SEN.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • An understanding of inclusion and individualised support.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Relevant TA qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is preferred but not essential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
