Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant for a supportive primary school in Durham from September. You will support pupils in Years 3-6, fostering independence and progress in learning.

Role involves one-to-one and small group support, literacy, numeracy and communication development, and close collaboration with the class teacher to adapt activities. Prior experience and Level 2/3 qualification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Level 2/3 qualification in education, childcare or related subject (preferred).
  • Experience working with children in a school, nursery or childcare setting.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children’s education and development.
  • Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Patient, positive and approachable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups with their learning.
  • Helping children develop literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and stay engaged in lessons.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to deliver activities and adapt resources.
  • Providing additional support for pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and creating an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Supporting children during lessons, activities and other parts of the school day.
