Job summary

Value Education LTD seeks a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant in Wigan to support pupils in early years. You will work with class teachers to assist with literacy, numeracy and classroom routines, fostering confidence and a positive attitude toward learning.

The role is term-time only with an immediate start, offering both full-time and part-time hours on a temporary-to-permanent basis. Experience in KS1 is preferred and safeguarding knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience working with children in Key Stage 1 or a similar primary setting.
• A patient, caring and supportive approach to learning.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils in KS1 through whole-class, small group and 1:1 support.
• Assisting the class teacher with engaging lessons, activities and classroom organisation.
• Supporting early reading, phonics, writing and basic numeracy development.
• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and clear routines.
• Supporting pupils with additional needs and adapting activities where required.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning attitudes.
• Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times.

About the Role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Wigan. In this role, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils in Key Stage 1, helping them to build confidence, develop early literacy and numeracy skills, and enjoy learning in a nurturing environment.

KS1 Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
