Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 1.
• Understanding of inclusive practice and early child development.
• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Flexible and responsive to individual needs.
• Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 1 classroom
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning
• Assist with differentiated activities tailored to individual needs
• Support pupils’ communication, social, and emotional development
• Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation
• Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans
• Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
• Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
• Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well-being
• Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
