Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated SEN KS1 Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support in a Nelson primary school. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff to help pupils access learning and develop confidence.

Experience with SEN in a primary setting and knowledge of KS1 curriculum will help you deliver personalised interventions. This role is term-time only with competitive pay and safeguarding duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist children in accessing the KS1 curriculum through differentiated activities and targeted support.
• Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through consistent routines and encouragement.
• Deliver interventions to support literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to support ongoing assessment.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.

A caring and inclusive primary school is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support within Key Stage 1. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within a supportive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of pupils, both academically and socially.

Salary: £14.25 - £16 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026 or ASAP
