Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing Key Stage 1 teacher to join our friendly and supportive school community in Bath and North East Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the early learning journey of our youngest pupils, within a school that values collaboration, creativity, and care.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for leading a Key Stage 1 class, creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to thrive. The role requires someone who understands the importance of nurturing the whole child, delivering the curriculum in a way that builds both confidence and curiosity.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, creative lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.

  • Assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND or EAL.

  • Establishing a calm, inclusive classroom culture that supports personal, social, and emotional development.

  • Working closely with colleagues, support staff, and parents to ensure every child makes progress and enjoys learning.

  • Contributing to school-wide initiatives, enrichment opportunities, and the wider life of the school.

  • Participating in relevant training and collaboration across the trust to enhance your practice.

This role offers the chance to have a lasting impact on children during a crucial stage of their development, in schools where every staff member is valued and supported.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS and has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, including knowledge of phonics and early reading.

  • Has a secure understanding of child development and how young children learn best.

  • Is warm, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting early education.

  • Demonstrates high expectations for all pupils and delivers engaging, child-centred lessons.

  • Communicates effectively with children, colleagues, and families.

  • Works well as part of a team and contributes positively to a collaborative staff culture.

  • Is reflective and open to professional growth and innovation in the classroom.

  • Can adapt to meet a range of needs and celebrates the individuality of every learner.

We offer:

  • A welcoming, inclusive school community where children are happy and eager to learn.

  • Supportive leadership with a clear focus on staff wellbeing and workload.

  • A well-resourced learning environment, including excellent outdoor provision for KS1.

  • Opportunities to engage with wider school initiatives and trust-level CPD.

  • Enthusiastic, well-behaved children who enjoy coming to school.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references will be required for the successful candidate.
