Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a KS1 Inclusion Support Worker for a welcoming Leeds primary school on a long- or short-term basis. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, focus on inclusion, wellbeing and helping every pupil feel confident in their learning.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience in a primary school, education or childcare setting.
  • Experience supporting KS1 learners desirable.
  • Passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Solid numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Level 2/3 qualification in childcare/education or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Understanding of inclusion and individual learner needs.
  • Able to take direction from the class teacher and work in a team.
  • Patient, caring and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to KS1 pupils.
  • Support pupils with learning, communication, behaviour or emotional needs.
  • Adapt activities and resources with the class teacher.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum and build confidence.
  • Support phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and catch-up sessions.
  • Promote an inclusive classroom where every child belongs and thrives.
  • Build positive relationships and provide consistent encouragement.
  • Assist with general classroom and pastoral duties as needed.

We're currently recruiting for a KS1 Inclusion Support Worker to join a welcoming primary school in Leeds on a long- or short-term basis. Your Main Responsibilities
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to KS1 pupils, responding to their individual learning and wellbeing needs

  • Supporting pupils who may require additional help with their learning, communication, behaviour or emotional regulation

  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to adapt activities and resources

  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours

  • Supporting phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities

  • Helping deliver targeted interventions and catch-up sessions to support pupils in closing learning gaps

  • Promoting an accepting and inclusive classroom where every child feels safe, valued and that they belong

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and providing consistent encouragement

  • Supporting the classroom teacher with general classroom and pastoral duties where required

Requirements or Skills
  • Recent experience working in a primary school, education or childcare setting

  • Experience supporting children in KS1 is desirable

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them overcome barriers to learning

  • Solid numeracy and literacy skills

  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or a similar subject - or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Understanding of inclusion and the individual needs of children

  • Comfortable taking direction from the class teacher and working effectively as part of a team

  • A patient, caring and proactive approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
