Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. in North Somerset is seeking an experienced KS1 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a child with additional needs within a mainstream classroom.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, offering a rewarding opportunity to help the pupil thrive and grow in confidence. The ideal candidate will have SEN experience, KS1 familiarity, a calm, patient approach, and an enhanced DBS via Update Service or be willing to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
• Experience working in KS1.
• Calm, patient and reassuring approach.
• Willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1-1 support to a KS1 pupil with additional needs in a mainstream classroom.
• Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child.
• Help the child access classroom learning and stay engaged.
• Support transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the day.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Support social skills, communication and emotional regulation.
• Work with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress.
• Create a calm, structured and nurturing environment.
