Job summary

GSL Education - Chelmsford is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil in a friendly primary school near the Harlow area. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the pupil engage with activities, follow routines, and build confidence in learning.

The role emphasises patience, a caring approach, and strong teamwork and communication to support the child both academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in a primary school or childcare setting.
• Patient, caring, and positive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with additional learning needs.
• Supporting the child to access classroom learning and activities.
• Encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence.
• Assisting with classroom routines, transitions, and structured learning tasks.
• Helping to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the child's development.
• Promoting positive behaviour and social interaction.
