Job summary

Hastings Hotels is seeking a reliable Kitchen Steward for the Grand Central Hotel in Northern Ireland. You will support the kitchen team by keeping dishwashing and preparation areas clean and well-organised, under the Executive Head Chef. Full training will be provided to suitable candidates.

The role requires attention to cleanliness, team collaboration, and adherence to health and safety policies. The position offers benefits including staff meals, discounts, and competitive service charges.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, pots and pans; operate the dishwasher and keep bins clean.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishwashing areas including walls and fridges.
• Ensure equipment and materials are used correctly and report problems promptly.
• Keep stock areas secure and report breaches; work with colleagues respectfully.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures; perform any other duties as required.

The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. Hours vary, but typical shift patterns include, 7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm.

The salary for this position is £23,478 per annum.

About the role

To ensure that all Kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned and presented to the Hastings Standard of Cleanliness and Hygiene.

• To keep all kitchen areas clean. Typical tasks include washing dishes, pots, pans, loading and unloading the dish washer, emptying, and cleaning bins.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of dishwashing areas including walls, fridges, and mopping floors.
• To ensure all equipment and materials are used in the correct manner and any problems are reported immediately.
• To always maintain the security of stock areas at all times, immediately reporting any breaches and dealing.
• To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
• To comply with all health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
• Any other duties as required by management.

About You

We would love you to have some similar previous experience, but this is not essential as our Kitchen Team will provide you with full training.
