Job summary
Hastings Hotels in Northern Ireland is seeking a reliable, friendly kitchen professional to join the Everglades Hotel. You will support the Head Chef in supervising the kitchen and upholding Hastings standards of quality and presentation.
This full-time role is 45 hours a week, five shifts across seven days, with a salary of £30,000 per year paid weekly. Benefits include free staff meals, tips, discounts, 29 days holiday plus your birthday, and clear progression opportunities.
Qualifications
- Experience in a quality catering operation.
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking is required.
- Current Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Attention to detail and a clean, tidy appearance.
- Good communication and Right to Work in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the kitchen to maintain Hastings standards.
- Oversee efficient kitchen operation and staff supervision.
- Promote a harmonious working environment with respect and dignity.
- Ensure quality standards and daily procedures are understood and followed.
- Monitor stock control and ordering per Hastings policy.
- Train and coach junior kitchen staff.
- Provide feedback to ensure efficient service.
- Maintain communication with other hotel departments and suppliers.
- Ensure kitchen and storage areas are secure and clean.
- Maintain safe working environment in line with health and safety policies.
- Prepare breakfasts and desserts as required.
- Fulfil Chef de Partie duties and perform other duties as needed.

The successful candidates can expect to work 45 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out of seven including weekends. Typical shift patterns include 6am to 4pm, 8am to 6pm and 12pm to 10pm
The salary for this full-time position is £30,000 per annum, paid weekly.

1. To assist in the effective supervision of the kitchen employees, to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen function.

8. To ensure the security of kitchen and storage areas is maintained.
9. To ensure the kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained.
10. To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
11. One successful candidate can expect to prepare Breakfasts and Desserts.
- One successful candidate will fulfil Chef de partie duties.
- Any other duties as required.
We would love you to have similar previous experience gained within a quality catering establishment.
- Must have previous experience at a similar level gained within a high quality catering operation
- Must have NVQ level 2 or the equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking and hold a recognised current Food Hygiene Certificate
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- A clean and tidy appearance
- Good communication skills
- Right to Work in the United Kingdom, Sponsorship may be considered for suitable candidates
- Educated to GCSE Standard or the equivalent including English and Maths
