Job summary

Hastings Hotels is seeking a reliable Housekeeping Attendant for the Grand Central Hotel in Northern Ireland. You will join a team under the Executive Head Housekeeper and play a key role in delivering guest comfort and maintaining high standards.

You’ll handle room cleaning, public areas, and adherence to safety and quality criteria, with training provided. Flexible shifts and weekend hours are typical, with benefits including meals and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at least grade C.
• Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
• Must have good communication skills and a clean, tidy appearance.

Responsibilities

• Clean and service bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas (vacuuming, mopping, toilets, making beds).
• Ensure equipment and materials are used correctly and report problems promptly.
• Maintain security of bedrooms and stock, report breaches, and manage lost property according to procedures.
• Work with colleagues to support a harmonious environment where staff are treated with respect and dignity.
• Be knowledgeable about hotel offerings and proactively promote them to guests.
• Greet guests and respond to queries.
• Address guest concerns politely and efficiently, reporting to the Supervisor/Manager on duty.
• Comply with health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties as required by management.

Hours vary, but typical shift patterns include 7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm - with later hours at the weekend.

The rate of pay for this casual position ranges from £9.55ph - £12.75ph depending on age.

About the role

To ensure that all areas of the Housekeeping function are cleaned and maintained for the greatest enjoyment of the guests and maximum resource efficiency for the hotel.

• To clean and service bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas of the hotel. Typical tasks include vacuuming, mopping, cleaning toilets, stripping and making beds.

• To ensure all equipment and materials are used in the correct manner and any problems are reported immediately.

• To always maintain the security of bedrooms and stock, immediately reporting any breaches and dealing with lost property in accordance with company procedures.

• To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

• To be knowledgeable about the hotel offerings and be proactive in the sale of these to guests.

• Greeting guests and responding to their queries

• To ensure that guest concerns are dealt with politely and efficiently, reporting them to the Supervisor/Manager on duty.

• To comply with all health, safety and hygiene policies and procedures.

• Any other duties as required by management.

About You

We would love you to have some similar previous experience, but this is not essential as our Housekeeping Team will provide you with full training.
