Job summary

Hastings Hotels at Ballygally Castle is seeking a reliable Breakfast Chef to lead the kitchen team and ensure the breakfast service meets Hastings standards.

You will supervise the breakfast operation, coach junior staff, manage stock and orders, and ensure a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment in a luxury hotel setting.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or the equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking.
• Recognised current Food Hygiene Certificate is required.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Right to Work in the United Kingdom is required.

Responsibilities

• To supervise the Breakfast kitchen operation and staff to ensure Hastings standards.
• To promote a harmonious working environment with respect and dignity for all employees.
• To ensure quality standards, procedures, and daily checks are followed.
• To monitor stock control and ordering in line with Hastings policies.
• To train and coach junior kitchen staff to deliver efficient service.
• To maintain good communication with other hotel departments and suppliers.

The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. Hours can vary but a typical shift pattern is 6am to 2pm.

The salary for this full-time position is £26,648.00 per annum.

About the role

To prepare and supervise Breakfast to ensure this most important meal of the day is presented to Hastings standards.

1.To take responsibility for the effective supervision of kitchen employees, to ensure efficient operation of the Breakfast function.

2.To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.

3.To ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood and implemented, and daily checking procedures are fully applied.

4.To ensure company policies relating to stock control and stock ordering are implemented and monitored.

5.To ensure the junior Kitchen team receive the appropriate training and coaching to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.

6.To ensure the junior Kitchen team work to Hastings standards, providing feedback to deliver effective and efficient service.

7.To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments and suppliers to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.

8.To ensure the security of kitchen and storage areas is maintained.

9.To ensure the kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained.

10.To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.

11.Any other duties as required.

Required Criteria

• Must have NVQ level 2 or the equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking and hold a recognised current Food Hygiene Certificate

• Basic Food Hygiene certificate
