Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a Kitchen Porter Supervisor to lead the kitchen porter team, ensuring a clean, safe and efficient environment across all kitchen areas. You will allocate tasks, monitor standards, and step in hands-on during busy periods to support high-quality service at events and dining services.

Working with the Head Chef and management, you will oversee rotas, training, and food prep support as needed, maintaining health and safety compliance and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the kitchen porter, allocating tasks and managing workflow to keep all areas clean and hygienic in line with health and safety regulations.
• Oversee dishwashing operations and ensure utensils are cleaned and sanitised.
• Assist chefs with simple food prep during peak times as directed.
• Unloading, checking and storing deliveries per stock rotation and food safety standards.
• Ensure waste disposal, recycling, and rubbish removal are carried out regularly for a safe environment.
• Plan and manage porter rotas, breaks, and cover for events and service periods.
• Train, induct and support porters, monitoring performance and standards.
• Regularly check cleanliness, hygiene, and equipment and report faults.
• Collaborate with chefs to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Experience as a kitchen porter with leadership ability.
• Ability to work under pressure and keep the team focused during peak times.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
• Knowledge of food safety and health and safety practices in kitchens.

The Kitchen Porter Supervisor helps lead the kitchen team, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient working environment across all kitchen areas at all times. Responsible for organising and directing the day-to-day work of kitchen porters, this role upholds hygiene and health and safety standards while supporting smooth culinary operations. Working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen management, the Kitchen Porter Supervisor allocates tasks, monitors standards, and steps in hands-on during busy periods, playing a key role in enabling the team to deliver high-quality service for all events and dining services within the venue. • Supervise and coordinate the kitchen porter, allocating tasks and managing workflow to ensure all kitchen areas, floors, surfaces, and storage rooms are kept clean, hygienic, and organised in line with health and safety regulations.
• Oversee the operation of dishwashing equipment, ensuring pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, and utensils are cleaned and sanitised efficiently and to standard.
• Support the chefs with the team's involvement in simple food prep tasks (e.g. peeling, chopping, assembling ingredients) as directed, particularly during busy service times.
• Oversee the unloading, checking, and correct storage of food and supply deliveries in line with stock rotation and food safety standards, escalating quality or accuracy issues as needed.
• Ensure kitchen waste disposal, recycling, and rubbish removal are carried out regularly and correctly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Plan and manage porter rotas, breaks, and cover to ensure adequate staffing across events and service periods.
• Train, induct, and support kitchen porters, monitoring performance and coaching on standards and best practice.
• Conduct regular checks of cleanliness, hygiene, and equipment, ensuring compliance with food safety and health and safety requirements and reporting maintenance or equipment faults.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen management to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during busy events or service periods.
• Previous experience as a kitchen porter, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure, and to keep a team focused during busy service periods.
• Good time management, organisational, and task-allocation skills.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Sound working knowledge of food safety and health and safety practices in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to give clear direction as well as take instruction from senior kitchen staff.
• Good communication skills and the ability to lead by example as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
