Job summary

The University of St Andrews is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter to join our busy catering team in a fast-paced environment. You will support chefs, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and help ensure smooth food service operations.

Full training will be provided, and a strong work ethic with attention to cleanliness is essential. This role includes access to staff benefits and a positive, supportive workplace.

Job description

Residential and Business Services catering department are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our busy catering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.

You will play a vital role in supporting our chefs and food service team, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and hygienically.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Assisting with the delivery, storage, and organisation of stock.
  • Removing waste and recycling in line with procedures.
  • Supporting chefs with basic food preparation when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Keeping kitchen equipment clean and ready for use.
