Job summary

The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support the Food & Beverage team. You will assist with cleaning, dishwashing, and maintaining hygiene across kitchen and service areas, with a focus on efficiency and teamwork in a lively venue.

Casual evening and weekend work is required; prior kitchen porter experience is helpful, and familiarity with hygiene standards and basic safety procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

• Kitchen porters support the overall operations of the Food & Beverage department by providing support to the kitchen & front of house teams.
• Kitchen porters are direct representatives of The Glasshouse International Centre for Music.
• Kitchen Porters provide functional support to the rest of the Food & Beverage team, ensure that cleanliness & hygiene standards are met across the main Food & Beverage areas.

Responsibilities

• To ensure that hygiene standards are met and exceeded.
• To ensure all crockery, cutlery & kitchen equipment are cleaned efficiently & appropriately.
• To ensure all the Kitchen surfaces, walls & floors are cleaned and regularly maintained.
• To find appropriate storage for cleaning equipment and chemicals in line with protocols.
• Regularly emptying bins & dispose of in appropriate external bins (i.e. food, recycling).
• Maintaining storage rooms & ensure all products are easily accessible.
• Collecting & signing for deliveries when required.
• Assisting with stock rotation.
• Comply with all food safety and hygiene measures.

Skills

Kitchen porter experience

Use of utensil washers

2-3 years experience in a similar role
