Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join the team at Bulford Barracks. You will support the kitchen with cleaning, dishwashing and basic preparation, ensuring the area runs smoothly and food service remains on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen, catering or cleaning experience is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, professional approach.
  • Willingness to work in a busy kitchen environment and maintain high hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all cleaning tasks in line with the schedule and sign off when completed.
  • Maintain hygiene across kitchen, dining areas, plate and pot wash areas, and equipment.

We’re looking for a Kitchen Porter to join our friendly team with Sodexo at Bulford Barracks.

You’ll play an important role in supporting the kitchen team, helping to keep the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly. From washing dishes and keeping work areas tidy to supporting with basic kitchen duties, you’ll help ensure the team can deliver great food and service every day.

What you’ll do:

  • Complete all cleaning tasks in line with the cleaning schedule and sign off work when completed.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, dining room, plate and pot wash areas and equipment.
  • Keep storage areas, machinery, equipment, cleaning materials, chemicals and waste areas clean, tidy and correctly stored.
  • Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation and food service duties as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Food Safety, COSHH and company Quality Control procedures, using chemicals and equipment only when trained and authorised.
  • Maintain high standards of personal and operational hygiene while developing your skills and knowledge within the role.

What you bring:

  • Previous kitchen, catering or cleaning experience is an advantage, but not essential — we’ll provide a full induction and training to help you get started.
  • Good communication skills, with a friendly and professional approach when working with colleagues and customers.
  • A flexible and positive attitude, with the ability to adapt to different kitchen tasks and priorities.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in keeping the kitchen, equipment and work areas clean, tidy and hygienic.
  • A reliable team player who can follow instructions, work independently when required and support the wider kitchen team.
  • A willingness to work in a busy kitchen environment and maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety and cleanliness.
