Job summary

The Hillside in Hillsborough is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team. You will wash crockery, cutlery and glassware, keep the wash-up area hygienic and support the kitchen in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The role offers flexible evening and weekend shifts, a rate of pay up to £12.71 per hour, and training opportunities across the Beannchor Group. Experience is welcome but full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar kitchen environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to use own initiative.
• Excellent team player.
• Ability to assert themselves in a busy environment.
• Experience in a kitchen role is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Wash, dry and store crockery, cutlery and glassware.
• Clean pots, pans and equipment and store correctly.
• Carry out cleaning duties as per standard procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of refuse area and empty bins regularly.
• Be aware of hazardous substances and wear PPE as required.

Job description

We have an excellent opportunityto join our kitchen team in The Hillside, Hillsborough as a Kitchen Porter.

You will ideallyhave at least 6 monthsexperience in a similar environment, have an outgoing personality and enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Reporting to the Head Kitchen Porter and Head Chef, you will ensure that all equipment, crockery, cutlery and glassware are washed and stored correctly and will ensure that the wash-up area is maintained in a hygienic manner, in accordance with 5* standards.

The ideal candidate will be fully flexible as shifts will include evenings and weekend. Rate of pay is up to £12.71 per hour

The Role will involve:

• Ensuring all items of crockery, cutlery & glassware are washed properly, dried and stored correctly.
• The cleaning of pots, pans & equipment and ensuring they are correctly stored
• Carrying out cleaning duties as outlined on standard procedures
• Maintaining the cleanliness of refuse area and ensure kitchen bins regularly emptied
• To be aware of hazardous substances and to ensure that relative protective clothing is worn and directions followed correctly.

The Successful Candidate will have:

• Excellent Communication skills
• A minimum of 6 months experience in a similar environment.
• Ability to use own initiative

• The ability to assert themselves in a busy environment
• Ability to work independently

Experience working in a similar role within a kitchen environment would be desirable for this position, but not essential as full training will be provided.
