Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd. in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our established team at a prestigious location. This is a term-time plus contract working 45 weeks a year with a 5-out-of-7 shift pattern and on-site free parking.

You will help keep the kitchen hygienic and safe, assist chefs with basic food preparation, handle pot wash duties, and operate the industrial dishwasher while maintaining high cleanliness standards. Excellent team environment and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred.
• Organisation skills required.
• Good verbal English understood.
• Written English and reading skills required.
• Similar experience in customer/food prep environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep kitchen hygienic and safe to high standards.
• Assist chefs with food preparation as needed.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment.

Contract: Full Time , Permanent
Salary: 25070.00
Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private school for both day and boarding pupils in Reading, Berkshire. Catering for 1540 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning breaks and afternoon breaks. There is a considerable amount of hospitality at this location. This is a term-time plus contract working 45 weeks a year. This is a 7-day operation so working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Reading.

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher

We are looking for:

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Organisation Skills.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
