Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd in Reading is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our established, friendly team at a prestigious location. You will support the chefs, maintain high kitchen cleanliness, and assist with prep as needed.

This full-time, permanent role is part of a term-time plus contract, with 45 weeks per year and a 5-day week from 7. There is free on-site parking and opportunities for development within a leading independent catering contractor.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen porter roles is preferred but not essential.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Experience in customer service or food preparation environment preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.
• Assist chefs with food preparation when required.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment.
• Operate the industrial dishwasher.
• Support the team to ensure a smooth service.

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: 25070.00

Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private school for both day and boarding pupils in Reading, Berkshire. Catering for 1540 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning breaks and afternoon breaks. There is a considerable amount of hospitality at this location. This is a term-time plus contract working 45 weeks a year. This is a 7-day operation so working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Reading.

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

Key Skills

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Excellent customer service skills
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher

We Are Looking For

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Can do attitude.
• Organisation Skills.

Knowledge / Competencies

• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
