Job summary

Thomas Franks is seeking a Kitchen Porter for a year-round contract at a Cambridge college site serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will help maintain high cleanliness across the kitchen, assist chefs with food prep, and ensure all equipment and surfaces are hygienic and safe.

Experience with pot wash and strong teamwork are valued. This role operates 5 days in a 7-day pattern, with benefits including free meals on duty and on-site parking.

Qualifications

Job description

A constituent college of the University of Cambridge oriented to mature students. Catering for 200 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, evening meal, all day café and lots of high end hospitality. This is a year-round contract operating 7 days a week and work patterns will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefits of this location is free on-site parking.

Kitchen Porter

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

Key skills:

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Excellent customer service skills

• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.

We are looking for:

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Can do attitude.
• Organisation Skills.

Knowledge / competencies:

• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
