Job summary

University Arms, Cambridge is seeking a Kitchen Porter to help keep the kitchen clean, organized and running smoothly. You will support chefs with basic tasks and maintain hygiene standards in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Based at Parker's Tavern on Regent Street, the role offers a competitive salary, free meals on duty, team events and employee discounts across the Marriott portfolio. Flexibility for evenings and weekends is preferred, with full-time hours and a physically active role.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean all kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery
• Ensure the Team Member Buttery is clean and stocked
• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen areas, storerooms, and back-of-house spaces
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks when required
• Remove waste and recycling, ensuring correct disposal
• Keep storage areas organised and assist with deliveries
• Follow health, hygiene, and safety standards at all times
• Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods
• Manual handling or lifting may be required, and the work is physically demanding.

University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker’s Piece is the Hotel’s quintessentially British Restaurant and bar, Parker’s Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom.

Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. What Will You Be Doing

What Are We Looking For In You

• Have previous kitchen porter or kitchen experience (preferred but not essential)
