Job summary

Walkabout Birmingham is seeking a Kitchen Manager or Kitchen Team Leader to shape our kitchen operations, uphold high standards, and develop the team at Walkabout. In this leadership role you’ll oversee activities, ensure compliance, and drive a positive, inclusive kitchen culture.

You’ll hire and onboard, mentor staff, maintain hygiene and safety, manage schedules, monitor stock, and collaborate with front-of-house to boost sales.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
• Proven ability to coach and develop team members.
• Strong knowledge of COSHH, Food Safety and general H&S compliance.

Responsibilities

• Hire and onboard new team members in an inclusive, welcoming manner.
• Lead, guide and develop the kitchen team with access to ongoing training.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
• Manage kitchen schedule to ensure efficient staffing and meet labour targets.
• Conduct regular stock checks to control costs and meet targets.
• Foster strong collaboration between kitchen and front-of-house to drive sales.
