Job summary

gategourmet is seeking a General Assistant to join its airport kitchen team in Crawley. You will help prepare food tray sets, perform temperature and quality checks, and support the packing and delivery of equipment to flights.

The role requires a good standard of English, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Shifts include weekends and early starts; prior catering or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Your day may involve preparing food tray sets and conduction temperature and quality checks.
• Other duties include checking stock and flight trollies, unloading incoming trollies from flights in preparation for cleaning.
• General washing, sorting, assembling and packing of airport equipment. Stripping airlines trollies and delivering to relevant departments.
• Sealing flight canisters, trolleys and recording numbers.
• Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role is desirable but not essential. You must be able to work shifts and be keen to learn. In addition to job - related training, you will develop your skills in team work, time management, multi-tasking, communication and attention to detail.

SPECIFIC DUTIES BY DEPARTMENT

Day to day duties within the kitchen:

• Pack food liners in accordance with written specification
• From specification, accurately make up sample and product for all classes
• Conduct temperature, quality, and product date checks
• Seal flight canisters, trolleys and record numbers
• Ensure correct marshalling of flights to Dispatch bays in assigned stowing order

Shifts: Must be able to work a mix of shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications: Educated to High School level.

Work Experience

• Good standard of English both written and verbal
• Working knowledge of Basic Hygiene
• Ideally some experience in a production/manufacturing/stores environment
• Experience of working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
