Job summary

The Harrodian School Ltd in London is seeking Kitchen Assistants for full-time or part-time roles starting ASAP. You will join a busy school kitchen, preparing, cooking and portioning meals to high standards, and supporting a team of chefs.

The role requires physical fitness, reliability and teamwork; duties include dishwashing, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to Food Hygiene and Safety regulations. DBS check will be required, and regular hours are offered with term-time options.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to carry kitchen equipment.
• Able to travel easily to Barnes, London SW13.
• Excellent time keeping skills.
• Health and Safety awareness; Food Safety and Hygiene training.
• Willing to undergo Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List check and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out the preparation, cooking and portioning of food to the kitchen’s high standards of quality and quantity, as directed.
• Washing and drying crockery; filling and emptying dishwashers.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including surfaces, walls and floors, sanitising, etc.
• Complying with all legal aspects implemented and monitored by the Food and Hygiene Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act and Fire Regulations.
• Carrying out any other ad hoc duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Deputy Chef or the Chef.
• Applicants must be hard-working, energetic, cheerful and able to work well within a large team.

Kitchen Assistants (Full- and Part-time) – start ASAP

Job type: Full-time or Part-time Starting date: As Soon As Possible

We have opportunities for full- and part-time KitchenAssistants to work in our busy school.

Working days and hours

Full-time: 07:30 to 16:30 Mondays to Fridays on a year round basis
OR
Part-time: 10:00 to 14:00 Mondays to Fridays during Term-time, i.e. 22 hours per week (with the opportunity to do extra hours if you are available)

These positions are offered on a permanent contract.

Responsibilities

Reporting to: the Chef

• Carrying out the preparation, cooking and portioning of food to the kitchen’s high standards of quality and quantity, as directed.
• Washing and drying crockery; filling and emptying dishwashers.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including surfaces, walls and floors, sanitising, etc.

• Carrying out any other ad hoc duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Deputy Chef or the Chef.

Salary and Benefits

£26,645 (actual gross annual salary forfull-timeposition, equating to an hourly rate of £12.81 (reviewed every April). This salary is based on a 40-hour working week plus 1 hour per day paid for lunch and breaks, and 38 days holiday plus bank holidays).

£12,104 (actual gross annual salary forpart-timeposition, equating to an hourly rate of £12.81 (reviewed every April). This salary is based on a 22-hour working week, during term-time only, and 37 days holiday plus bank holidays pro-rated ). Timesheet additional hours worked.

Rate of Pay: £14.36 per hour including holiday pay. The hourly rate is calculated to include statutory holiday entitlement at 12.07%.
