Job summary

PrimeLife Ltd is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in Hull to support residents with meals, snacks and beverages in a care-home setting. You will ensure dietary requirements are met, help with dining, and keep stock and records up to date. Training for catering duties is provided if needed.

The role offers regular set shifts across a 7-day week, with DBS funded and opportunities to learn and progress within a caring team.

Qualifications

• You are genuinely caring and patient with residents.
• Experience as a cook is beneficial, with training provided by Prime Life.
• A Food Hygiene/Catering qualification is ideal but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals, snacks and beverages according to residents' dietary needs.
• Undertake quality checks on food and storage.
• Assist with dining service to provide a dignified experience for residents.
• Maintain stock records and ordering in line with policy and food safety rules.
• Keep kitchen clean and support with deep cleaning tasks.

This role will be based at Loran House Care Home, in Hull. The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 46 residents, living with a range of age related, physical and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. The home provides a unique reablement service within the local community and supports individuals with short stay respite care following their discharge from hospitals, to ensure a safe return home once rehabilitated. It is essential that candidates for this role are patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities to maximise and promote their independence.

Responsibilities of our Kitchen Assistant include

• Preparing meals, snacks and beverages in line with our residents’ dietary requirements
• Undertaking quality checks on food prepared and food being stored
• Assisting with food service to allow our residents a dignified dining experience
• Maintaining stock records in line with company policy and food safety regulations
• Ordering stock and maintaining accurate records
• Maintaining a hygienic and tidy kitchen and supporting with deep cleaning tasks

What we’re looking for in our Kitchen Assistant

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. You will be an experienced Cook, ideally holding a Food Hygiene and/or Catering qualification, though this is not essential as Prime Life can support you with the training necessary for this role.
