Job summary

Hamberley Care Homes is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for Templeton Place, Southampton, to support daily kitchen operations in a luxury care environment. You will work alongside a dedicated team to prepare nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs and ensure high hygiene standards are consistently met.

The role emphasizes compassionate service, teamwork, and reliability, with opportunities for training and involvement in quality-driven care.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a catering role, ideally in care or similar environment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety COSHH regulations.
• Empathy and a desire to make a difference to residents’ lives.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Support Chefs in planning and provisioning high-quality meals meeting nutritional needs.
• Plan, prepare and serve balanced meals that meet dietary requirements.
• Ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and safe work methods are followed.
• Manage stocks and stores; mark and rotate stock appropriately.
• Maintain fridge temperature checks and records to satisfy hygiene requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Chefs in the planning and provision of high-quality meals that meet the nutritional and dietary requirements of our residents
• Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals that meet dietary requirements
• To ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and ensure that safe methods of work are always used
• Manage all stocks and stores ensuring all food is correctly marked and stock rotation systems are in place
• To maintain accurate records to satisfy food hygiene requirement such as fridge temperature checks

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in a similar catering role, ideally in a care or similar environment.
• Committed to customer care and first-class service provision
• Knowledge of Health and Safety COSHH regulations
• Empathy and a desire to make a difference to the lives of our residents
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and on own initiative in a fast- paced environment
