Job summary

Pilgrims' Friend Society is seeking a friendly Kitchen Assistant to join our Ancillary Team at Furze Hill House Care Home near North Walsham. You will help with meal prep, serving meals, and keeping the kitchen clean in a warm, Christian care setting.

We offer full induction, training opportunities, and flexible hours (35 or 28 hours per week, including some weekends). A caring attitude and teamwork are essential, prior catering experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals and refreshments
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
• Support safe food storage and temperature recording
• Deliver meals to residents with a friendly, caring approach
• Work alongside the Catering Supervisor to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Contribute to a positive, homely environment in line with care values

Our amazing team at Furze Hill House Care Home provide a loving and caring environment for our residents, whilst maintaining the Christian ethos that is so important to them. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents are of primary importance to us. We are a 40 bed care home just on the outskirts of North Walsham.

We're now looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Ancillary Team. This is more than just a job, it's a chance to make a real difference every day. From supporting meal preparation to helping create a welcoming home, your role will be an important part of our residents' daily lives.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals and refreshments

• Work alongside the Catering Supervisor to ensure smooth kitchen operations

We offer a full induction to the work and also provide other training as required by the post.

About you

• You need to be someone who enjoys working with older people and can have an empathy with them;
• You need to be able to operate laundry equipment in a safe and reliable manner
• You need to be able to work as part of a team in order to provide an excellent service to our residents; and
• You must be a well-organised, practical and adaptable person.

Hours

Shifts available: 35 hours per week or 28 hours per week (includes some weekend shifts)
