Dunstable Town Council is seeking an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join the Priory House team in Dunstable. The role involves cooking, food preparation, and helping to deliver high-quality food in a historic setting.

Working with the Catering Manager, you will prepare fresh food for the menu, create items for specials and Afternoon Teas, and contribute to the Priory Pantry range. Regular evenings and weekends are required, with potential additional hours.

Qualifications

• You don't need to be a head chef, but you must enjoy working with food and have catering kitchen experience.
• Take pride in presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail and stay calm and organised when service gets busy.
• Be reliable, flexible and comfortable working as part of a team.
• Work methodically and use your own initiative.
• Willing to learn menus and help cover food preparation when the Catering Manager is absent.
• Committed to high standards of personal and food hygiene.
• Able to follow kitchen procedures and safety guidelines.
• Willing to obtain Food Hygiene and COSHH qualifications if not already held.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and cook fresh food for the daily menu and lunch service.
• Create dishes for specials board and Afternoon Teas.
• Help produce the Priory Pantry range for resale.
• Assist with menu development and bring ideas to the kitchen.
• Manage stock levels and assist with opening/closing routines.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and organisation.
• Ensure crockery, cutlery and equipment are cleaned and ready for service.
• Assist with stock ordering when required.
