Job summary

Glenholme Healthcare Ltd in Spalding is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the busy kitchen team at Halmer Court. You will support the Chef with daily tasks and help with food preparation while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene for residents, visitors, and staff.

The role involves 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of £13. Training in food hygiene and health & safety is provided, and the team values reliability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or catering experience is preferred but not essential.
• A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and under direction.
• Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards (training can be provided).
• Flexibility to work shifts as required by the service.

Responsibilities

• Keep all areas of the kitchen clean and tidy at all times.
• Wash and sanitise all kitchen equipment thoroughly.
• Ensure the safe and economical use of food and kitchen materials.
• Report any defects, damages, or breakages promptly to the Chef or Assistant Cook.
• Assist with day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparing vegetables, sandwiches, and light meals.
• Support with serving meals where required.
• Clean kitchen and ancillary rooms thoroughly in line with cleaning schedules.
• Follow infection control, COSHH, and food hygiene procedures at all times.
• Support colleagues in other areas of the home when required.
• Maintain a clean, professional, and presentable appearance at all times.

As a Kitchen Assistant at Glenholme Halmer Court, you will play a key role in supporting the Chef and wider kitchen team with all delegated kitchen duties.
