Job summary

Excelcare is seeking a Bank Kitchen Assistant at Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech, Cambridge. You will assist the Chef, prepare nutritious meals, and help create a positive dining experience for residents.

Flexible hours are available across 8am–1:30pm, 10am–7pm, or 4pm–7pm, with duties including maintaining hygiene and following dietary plans. DBS may be provided; 28 days holiday and other benefits offered.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a catering environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• Passion for fresh, tasty, homemade food.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in preparing nutritious meals for residents.
• Follow scheduled meal plans and dietary requirements.
• Maintain hygiene standards in kitchen areas.
• Support residents at mealtimes and create positive dining experiences.
• Check kitchen equipment and report faults to the Chef.
• Adhere to Health & Safety standards, COSHH, safe moving and handling, and cross‑infection control.

We have an opportunity for a Bank Kitchen Assistant to join our Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech, Cambridge. You will become part of a compassionate and welcoming team providing physical, emotional and social support and most importantly outstanding meal time experiences for the people living in our care home. Your dedication, reliability and support will make a difference every day.

Pay: £13.45 per hour.

Flexible hours available: 8 am – 1:30 pm, 10 am – 7 pm or 4 pm – 7 pm. Days across Monday – Sunday.

About the role

• Assist the Chef in preparing and cooking nutritious, healthy meals for residents.
• Work to scheduled meal plans, paying attention to individual dietary requirements and personal choice.
• Maintain excellent standards of hygiene in all kitchen areas.
• Support residents at mealtimes and help create a positive dining experience.
• Check kitchen equipment, and report any concerns or faults to the Chef.
• Understand and apply Health & Safety standards, including Basic Food Hygiene, COSHH, safe moving and handling, and cross‑infection control.
