Job summary

Berkeley Scott Education in the Henley-on-Thames area is recruiting General Assistants to support schools and educational settings. Expect flexible daytime hours, school-friendly shifts, and ongoing temporary assignments across Henley-on-Thames, Reading, Maidenhead, and surrounding areas.

You will assist with food preparation and serving, set up and clear dining areas, operate tills where required, and help maintain kitchen cleanliness while following food hygiene and safety procedures.

Berkeley Scott Education is currently recruiting reliable and enthusiastic General Assistants to work within schools and educational settings across Henley-on-Thames, Reading, Maidenhead, High Wycombe, Marlow, Wallingford and the surrounding areas.

Pay Rate

£13.00 - £14.80 per hour, depending on the school, assignment, location, experience, and shift requirements.

The Role

As a General Assistant, your duties may include:

• Assisting with food preparation and serving meals
• Setting up and clearing dining areas
• Operating tills where required
• Washing up and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
• Supporting chefs and catering teams with daily tasks
• Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times

What We're Looking For

• Previous catering, hospitality, kitchen, or customer service experience is beneficial
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Essential Safeguarding Requirement

As these roles are based in schools and educational environments, safeguarding requirements apply.

- You must hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate for the Child Workforce, preferably on the Update Service, or

- Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS Child Workforce check before starting work.

Please note: Basic DBS, Standard DBS, or Adult Workforce DBS certificates are not suitable for these positions. A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS is required to work within school settings.
