Job summary

Sodexo at Hurstpierpoint College in Hassocks, West Sussex is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. You will maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, operate dishwashers, and support the chefs with food preparation and allergen awareness.

The role is onsite with shift options, 40 hours per week, and a requirement for a driving licence. Pay is £12.90 per hour with opportunities for training and career progression.

Responsibilities

• Clean heavy and small catering equipment to the required standard using the correct materials and instructions.
• Operate industrial dishwashers across multiple catering areas to keep service running smoothly.
• Dispose of kitchen waste safely and correctly, maintaining clean, organised workspaces.
• Maintain excellent hygiene, complete 3 checks for safety and submit Near Miss cards.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation while being mindful of dietary requirements.
• Transport provisions and equipment between catering areas to assist the wider team.

Pay: £12.90 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: 5 out of 6 days, Monday–Saturday
Shift Times: 7:00am–3:30pm, 11:00am–7:30pm or 8:00am–4:30pm, business dependent

Driving Licence is required for this position
