Job summary

Sodexo Group at Hurstpierpoint College in Hassocks is seeking a Food Service Assistant. You will prepare food service areas, deliver a quality catering service, and maintain high hygiene standards in a fast-paced school setting.

Working 18–30 hours per week across five days out of six, shifts include evenings and Saturday daytime. The role offers full training, a uniform, and benefits within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food service areas and present food to high standards.
  • Deliver a quality catering service in line with procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic front and back of house areas.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and food safety procedures.
  • Assist with setting up and serving hospitality and catering events.
  • Attend daily service briefings and support smooth service delivery.
  • Complete quality checks and maintain service records where required.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and report incidents or risks.
  • Support special events and functions as required

Job description

  • Contract: Permanent – Part Time
  • Position: Food Service Assistant
  • Location: Hurstpierpoint College, College Lane, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks
  • Pay: £13.29 per hour
  • Days: 5 out of 6, Monday–Saturday
  • Hours: 18–30 hours per week, variable and flexible
  • Shift Pattern: Various shifts available, including evenings and Saturday daytime. Typical shifts include Tuesday & Thursday 5:00pm–10:00pm, Saturday 10:00am–6:00pm, and Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 4:00pm–8:00pm.

What You’ll Do:
