Job summary

Holroyd Howe and Charterhouse School are looking for a reliable Kitchen Porter to join the catering team on a full-time basis. You will help maintain a clean, safe kitchen and support daily operations across breakfast, lunch and dinner for students, staff and guests.

The role requires a proactive, team-oriented candidate who can work a 5 out of 7 rota with early or late shifts and enjoy a busy education catering environment.

Qualifications

• Keen interest in food and cooking.
• Good attention to detail and understanding of hygiene practices.
• Team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
• Experience or training in kitchen is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to work in an education or high-profile catering environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
• Assist chefs with basic food prep and stock deliveries.
• Operate dishwashers and ensure proper sanitation practices.
• Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Support the team in daily kitchen operations and setup for service.
• Accountability for following and championing allergen controls.

Salary: £26,462.57 per annum (35 hours per week, 1 hour unpaid break, free meals on duty)

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porterto join the catering team at Charterhouse School.

You will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment at all times.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a busy, high-quality education catering setting, supporting the delivery of breakfast, lunch, and dinner service to students, staff, and guests seven days a week.

You will be joining Holroyd Howe, one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, providing fresh, innovative food services exclusively to independent schools and colleges. We are a team of experienced professionals who tailor our catering service provision specifically to suit children of all ages and meet the bespoke requirements of each school.

Working Pattern:

• Approx. every third weekend off, helping support a strong work-life balance
• Quieter weekends in main dining areas, with exciting Saturday sports events Working pattern
• This is a 5 out of 7 day rota with a mix of shifts to meet operational needs:
• Early shift: 6:30am – 2:30pm
• Late shift: 12:30pm – 8:30pm
