Cygnet Health Care Limited is seeking a Kitchen Assistant at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. You will support the chef, handle basic food prep, and maintain high hygiene standards across a 7-day rota with early and late shifts.

The role involves stocking ingredients, safety practices, and assisting with deliveries while delivering meals that meet residents’ needs. The position requires previous catering experience, knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety, and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience in a kitchen setting.
• HACCP knowledge and Food Safety training completed.
• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and maintain high cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team to provide balanced, appetising meals to service users.
• Perform basic food preparation and other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils and store them properly; ensure cleanliness and hygiene.
• Check deliveries, stock ingredients and assist with ordering.
• Help maintain a hygienic kitchen environment in line with COSHH and safety rules.
• Communicate effectively with staff and residents to support care goals.

We are currently recruiting for Kitchen Assistant with previous experience working in a catering or kitchen environment at Cygnet Hospital Ealing. Our current need is to cover early and late shifts, working full-time (37.5 hours a week) across a 7 day rota (Monday - Sunday) Early shift times - 7:30am - 3:30pm Late shift times - 10am - 7pm

You will assist the Chef in ensuring that all catering areas are maintained in a hygienic, clean, tidy and safe manner, as per the operational standards, and assist in all relevant aspects of the catering operation as required.

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.

Your day to day...

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Hospital.
• To maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude toward clients, their families, staff, visitors and others
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

• Previous catering experience
• Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Training
• Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times
• Be a good communicator and able to liaise with people at all levels
• Have good personal hygiene standards
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness
• Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
