Job summary

Hamberley Care Homes is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for Dorking Manor Care Home. You will support the chefs in planning and providing meals that meet residents' nutritional and dietary requirements, and help deliver balanced, tasty dishes in a luxurious care-home setting.

The role emphasises food hygiene, stock control, and accurate record-keeping for safety, with opportunities for training and development within a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a catering role, ideally in care environment.
• Knowledge of Food Hygiene standards and safe working methods.
• Commitment to customer care and high service levels.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chefs in planning and provisioning high-quality meals meeting residents' dietary needs.
• Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals that meet dietary requirements.
• Ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and safe methods of work are used.
• Manage stocks and stores with proper labeling and stock rotation.
• Maintain records such as fridge temperature checks to satisfy hygiene requirements.
• Demonstrate empathy and a passion for residents' wellbeing.
• Contribute to a true team culture with flexible, problem-solving approach.

Job description

As our kitchen assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our care homes kitchen.,

• Supporting the Chefs in the planning and provision of high-quality meals that meet the nutritional and dietary requirements of our residents
• Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals that meet dietary requirements
• To ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and ensure that safe methods of work are always used
• Manage all stocks and stores ensuring all food is correctly marked and stock rotation systems are in place
• To maintain accurate records to satisfy food hygiene requirement such as fridge temperature checks
  Proven experience working in a similar catering role, ideally in a care or similar environment.
• Committed to customer care and first-class service provision
• Knowledge of Health and Safety COSHH regulations
• Empathy and a desire to make a difference to the lives of our residents
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and on own initiative in a fast-paced environment
