Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking experienced Kitchen Assistants to work in care home settings across Bishop Auckland and surrounding areas. You will assist with basic food prep, meal service and kitchen support in a busy catering team.

Enhanced DBS required. We offer flexible shifts, weekly pay, and immediate starts with ongoing temporary assignments across multiple care homes.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS is required.
• Previous experience as Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Porter or similar is desirable.
• Experience in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other catering environments is beneficial.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Awareness of allergies and dietary requirements.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
• Reliable, hardworking and positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Prepare ingredients, snacks, drinks and simple food items as required.
• Serve meals to residents in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist with setting up and clearing dining and kitchen areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Follow food hygiene and food safety procedures at all times.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Support the kitchen team during busy meal services.
• Follow instructions regarding residents' dietary requirements, allergies and texture-modified meals.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

About the Role

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Kitchen Assistants to work within care home settings across Bishop Auckland and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or more regular temporary work, we have assignments available to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistants who enjoy working as part of a busy catering team. You will support the kitchen with the preparation and service of meals, helping to ensure residents receive a high standard of food and service.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:
