Job summary

Willowbrook Care Home in Birmingham is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in a specialist complex care setting. You will assist with food preparation, ensure high cleanliness standards and follow food safety procedures to meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.

You will also help with deliveries, storage and kitchen organisation, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running and a positive dining experience for residents.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation is desirable but not essential.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A reliable, hardworking and positive approach.

Job description

Willowbrook Care Home is a specialist service in Birmingham, providing high quality care for up to 75 residents living with dementia, mental health conditions and complex needs. The home delivers clinically led, person centred care within a structured and supportive environment, promoting independence, stability and overall wellbeing.

Kitchen Assistant Contract
  • £12.71 per hour
  • Contracted to 36 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)
Role Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team within a specialist complex care setting, supporting individuals with a range of complex physical and mental health needs.

You will assist with food preparation, maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure food safety procedures are followed at all times. Working as part of the team, you will help prepare meals that meet individual dietary needs, including modified or specialist diets where required.

You will also support with deliveries, storage and kitchen organisation, ensuring all areas are clean, safe and well maintained. Working in a structured environment, you will contribute to the smooth day to day running of the kitchen while supporting a positive dining experience for residents.
